While I’ve been slacking in my posts I feel it only appropriate I address the one major piece of many major pieces of news that occurred within the last few weeks.

The passing of Michael Joseph Jackson – 1958-2009

Michael created the sound of a generation. There would be no Britney, Justin, Ne-Yo, Chris, Beyonce, Ciara, Christina, Usher, Mariah, R. Kelly, etc. if it were not for the musical creativity that flowed from Michael Jackson. $750,000+ albums sold. 13 Grammys. 13 number one singles.  More musical achievements than any other artist. He truly was the Greatest entertainer that ever lived. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

8.9 … My Painter Friend, Shawn.

Now, I may be singer (hate that term by the way…) and I may not know as much as I would like to know about fine art but what I do know is that when you like something you see it must be shared. I don’t know what it is about Shawn Lindsay‘s work but it’s rare that I don’t like a piece. Maybe it’s the vibrancy in color, the subject matter, or simply the fact that because I have a sense of his personality his work just makes complete sense. I’ve only known Shawn for a very short, yet long time. While I’m sure that doesn’t make much sense, in the time that I have known him, it’s been a pleasure. I can not wait to walk into a gallery one day and see his work with a “Sold” sign on it.
